Huskies' Mathieu Lemay Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Mathieu Lemay of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 4 after scoring nine goals and two assists for 11 points in four games with a plus-minus rating of plus-6.
Lemay recorded four multi-point games and helped the Huskies earn seven of a possible eight points last week while impressively earning first star honours in all four contests. The QMJHL's top goal scorer produced his first career hat-trick last Monday night helping the Huskies erase a three goal deficit against the Val-d'Or Foreurs and later netted the shootout-winner in the 5-4 triumph. Last Wednesday night Lemay scored twice with an assist as part of a 5-2 win over the Gatineau Olympiques, then helped the Huskies grab their first win of 2015 on Saturday with two goals and an assist in a 5-1 win over the Sherbrooke Phoenix. His week wrapped up Sunday with a two-goal performance despite a 6-5 shootout loss to the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
Lemay, a 20-year-old from Hawkesbury, ON, is playing in his fourth full season in the QMJHL. Through 40 games played he has already established a career-high with 50 points and currently leads the QMJHL with 32 goals.
Also considered for the award this week was past winner and Arizona Coyotes prospect Christian Dvorak of the London Knights who scored four goals and eight assists for 12 points in three games, and Victoria Royals' defenceman Travis Brown who scored once with four assists for five points in two games.
