Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON (Wednesday, January 7, 2015) - Major League Soccer announced the 2015 league schedule on Wednesday, including the Dynamo's 34-game slate for its tenth season in Houston.
The Dynamo open the 2015 campaign on Saturday, March 7 at BBVA Compass Stadium against the Columbus Crew. The 17-game BBVA Compass Stadium home schedule includes one visit from FC Dallas (May 1) in the Texas Derby and 2015 MLS expansion club Orlando City SC (March 13), featuring Brazilian midfielder Kaká, a former FIFA World Player of the Year.
The Dynamo will return to the Western Conference this year for the first time since 2010.
Houston will host the reigning MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy on July 25 and welcomes the 2014 Supporters' Shield winning Seattle Sounders FC to BBVA Compass Stadium for the home finale on Oct. 18.
"More than anything, we are ready to get back into action in 2015," Dynamo president Chris Canetti said. "We have a very exciting season ahead, and seeing the schedule helps bring it even closer to reality. We are building a strong team and have a thrilling lineup of games for fans to support the Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium."
Major League Soccer will continue toplay an unbalanced schedule this season, with the Dynamo set to play each Eastern Conference team once, six Western Conference teams three times and three Western Conference clubs (Seattle Sounders FC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Real SaltLake) twice. In addition, MLS is introducing "Decision Day" for the final day of the regular season - all five Western Conference games, including the Dynamo's visit to Vancouver on Oct. 25, will be played simultaneously at 6 p.m. CT as the final MLS Cup Playoffs standings are sorted.
The 2015 home schedule includes two games with former Eastern Conference rival Sporting Kansas City (April 25 and Sept. 23) and two with the San Jose Earthquakes (May 5 and Aug. 8), a renewed Western Conference rival.
The home slate includes 10 Saturday home dates, four Friday home games, and one match on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. The Dynamo will host no more than one day game at BBVA Compass Stadium this season.
The 2015 season marks the debut of head coach Owen Coyle and Mexico national team forward Erick "Cubo" Torres, who signed with the Dynamo on Dec. 23 and will join the club during the 2015 season following his loan to Chivas Guadalajara. Forward Giles Barnes is set to return after an award-winning season in which he collected Dynamo MVP, Players' Player of the Year, Ironman of the Year and Golden Boot honors. Additionally, Honduras international midfielder Luis Garrido and four-time World Cup veteran DaMarcus Beasley will be with the club from the start of the season after joining last July.
Dynamo full-season, 10-game and 5-game plans are available now. Full-season packages start at $380, with partial packages starting at $99. Individual tickets for the first five home games of the 2015 will be available at a later date. To purchase your package or formore information on 2015 season tickets, call (713) 276-GOAL.
