January 7, 2015 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
D.C. United News Release
Washington, D.C. (January 7, 2015) - D.C. United has announced its 2015 Major League Soccer regular season schedule. Winner of 13 major domestic and international titles, D.C. United begins its 20th regular season campaign on Saturday, March 7, against the Montreal Impact at RFK Stadium. United will play a 34-game schedule that includes 17 home games and 17 road matches, with 24 contests against Eastern Conference opposition. The Black-and-Red will be featured 10 times on national television, including six appearances in the Sunday doubleheader on ESPN and FOX Sports and three as part of the Univision Deportes game of the week.
Single game tickets for 2015 will go on sale Tuesday, January 27, but fans can save 20% on match tickets and receive guaranteed priority seating for United's new stadium at Buzzard Point by becoming a Full Season Ticket Member today. Visit dcunited.com/tickets or call 202.587.5000 for more information.
United's schedule features compelling match-ups throughout the year, starting with four of its first five games against Eastern Conference opponents, including a nationally televised clash with rival New York Red Bulls on the road on March 22 and a showdown with defending MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy at home on March 28. The Black-and-Red will face Orlando City FC for the first time on the road on Apr. 3 in a game broadcast by Univision and again in Florida on June 14, while welcoming the expansion side for its RFK Stadium debut on May 13. Fellow expansion team New York City FC will host D.C. United for the first time at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 13 and make its inaugural journey to the nation's capital on Oct. 2. United's nationally televised visit to Red Bull Arena on Aug. 30 will also be featured as part of one of two MLS Rivalry Weeks during the season.
Newly created schedule enhancements will ensure fans have access to the league's most meaningful games during the season's climax. MLS and its broadcast partners have introduced flex scheduling for the second-to-last weekend of the regular season which will allow FOX Sports 1, ESPN and Univision Deportes to decide to telecast the matches that matter most to fans late in the season.
Before United begins MLS play, it will compete in the quarterfinals of CONCACAF Champions League against Alajuelense of Costa Rica. The Black-and-Red will travel to Costa Rica for its first leg on Thursday, February 26, and return to RFK for its home leg on Wednesday, March 4.
D.C. United's full playing calendar will include fixtures in other competitions. Dates and times will be announced at a later date. United will also stream several preseason games live on dcunited.com/live. Games and times that will be streamed will be announced at a later date.
