Spokane Acquires 5th Round Pick from Brandon

Spokane Chiefs News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced today that the team has traded the rights to 20-year-old defenseman Reid Gow to the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for a 5th Round Bantam Draft selection. Spokane will have the choice of using the acquired selection during the 2015 or 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.
"Originally, Reid Gow chose not to play his overage year in Spokane because he wanted to be closer to home and family in Manitoba," Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz said. "Reid enrolled and played the first half of this season at the University of Manitoba."
Gow played 18 games for the Bisons, scoring twice and adding 5 assists.
"The Spokane Chiefs gave the Brandon Wheat Kings permission to talk to Reid after the Christmas break to discuss the option of Reid playing in Brandon," Speltz continued. "Joining the Wheat Kings will allow Reid to be closer to home and family, which is important to him, while also enabling Reid to continue studies at the U of M.
"We want to thank Reid for his contribution to our organization and wish him all the best finishing his overage year with the Wheat Kings."
Gow played 229 regular season games with Spokane, good for 39th all-time in franchise history. He scored 17 goals and 129 assists with the Chiefs.
The Chiefs play three games in four nights this week, beginning with a Wednesday night showdown versus the visiting Portland Winterhawks at Spokane Arena. Tickets for Wednesday night and all Chiefs home games are available in-person at the Chiefs' Ticket Office, over the phone at (509) 535-PUCK or (800) 325-SEAT, via TicketsWest outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
