Mill Rats Rebuild Sees 2 More Players Added

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats continue their version of 'Home Makeover' by adding 2 more players to the roster: 6'2 shooting guard Darin Mency and 6'8 centre Jean Richard "Ricky" Volcy.
Darin Mency
Darin Mency, who is from Hagerstown, Maryland, played last season for the Delaware 87ers in the NBA Development League before joining the London Lightning. He was originally drafted into the NBL Canada by Saint John in 2012 (12th pick overall). He played for the Rochester Razorsharks in 2013 averaging 16.6 points per game on 44% from three point range.
Jean Richard "Ricky" Volcy
Ricky Volcy is a skilled centre who hails from Montreal, Quebec and played his college ball at Northern Michigan. He played a number of years in Europe before suiting up for the Quebec Kebs in the first season of the NBL Canada. With the Kebs he averaged 11.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He left the Kebs to continue playing in Europe, averaging 14.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in Switzerland.
"Darin gives us another returning player who is also experienced in this league and can flat out shoot the ball," said Mill Rats President & General Manager Ian McCarthy. "Ricky is veteran who is very savvy, tough inside on defense, and can also stretch the floor."
To make room for the new players the Mill Rats released Jermaine Dailey and Matt Brooks. Mency is already cleared to play in the league, but Volcy is pending FIBA clearance.
"Double A and Kenny (Jones) have both been playing huge minutes for us and its taking a toll. The plan is for these guys to give us more depth to be able to a manage minutes," said Mill Rats Head Coach Julian King. "Plus they can really play and will help us tremendously down the stretch."
