New Orleans VooDoo News Release

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans VooDoo have been assigned offensive lineman Daverin Geralds and defensive back Greg Reid, announced the VooDoo front office Wednesday morning.

Geralds (6-3, 390, Ole Miss) enters his third season with the New Orleans VooDoo and fifth season in the Arena Football League. After spending time with the Georgia Force in 2011, Geralds appeared in eight games as a rookie with the New Orleans VooDoo and appeared in nine games with the VooDoo in 2012. In 2013, the Louisiana native started in 17 games with the Pittsburgh Power and played in four games with the Power in 2014.

"Daverin is a big, athletic and smart football player," said VooDoo Head Coach Dean Cokinos. "He has been a very productive and reliable player throughout his college and professional career. I brought him into the AFL in 2011 with the Georgia Force, so I also know that he is a high character person. Daverin is a good fit for us in New Orleans going forward."

Before turning pro, Geralds started 26 consecutive games at center for the Rebels during his junior and senior campaigns and graced the cover of Sports Illustrated along with Mississippi quarterback Jevan Snead, in 2009.

Reid (5-9, 190, Florida State) enters his rookie season in the Arena Football League.

He began his college career at Florida State, playing in all 13 games of the 2009 season, intercepting two passes and leading the NCAA in punt return average. Reid earned defensive MVP honors in 2010 after his performance during the Chick-fil-A Bowl. He transferred to Valdosta State in 2012 but tore his ACL during the preseason and never played a down for the team. Prior to joining the VooDoo, Reid was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the St. Louis Rams in 2014.

"Greg is a very gifted and versatile player," said VooDoo Head Coach Cokinos. "With his physical attributes he should transition well into the Arena game. This is a good opportunity for him to showcase his skill set."
