The Sting topped divisional rival, Saginaw Spirit on Friday night at the RBC Centre in the last game before a short break for the team. The Sting closed out the first half of the regular season with 17 wins, equal to the number they totalled in the entire 2013-14 regular season.

The team returns to action on Sunday afternoon at the RBC Centre when they take on the Plymouth Whalers. Kids tickets are just $6 on Sunday, and there will be an hour of open ice after the game should fans wish to take part in an open skate.

On Wednesday at 1:05, the Sting take on the London Knights in game 1 of the annual home-and-home New Year's rivalry series. London got the best of Sarnia when these 2 teams faced off on December 11th, but the Sting will look to reply in this highly anticipated New Year's eve game.

Sting Notes

Western Conference Standings: The Sting are 7-2-0-1 in their last 10 games, putting them in 2nd in the West Division and 6th in the Western Conference. The 4-1 win over Saginaw last week was the club's 17th of the season, equal to the number of wins the team had last season.

Nikita Korostelev: Korostelev leads the Sting with 16 goals on the season, 1 shy of his rookie season total (17). The draft-eligible winger is also tied for the team-high in points with 36 in 33 games played.

Anthony DeAngelo: DeAngelo leads all OHL defenseman in points with 10G 26A for 36 PTS in 28 games this season. DeAngelo is attending USA Hockey's World Junior Preliminary Camp this week. He has 2A in as many games for the USA during pre-tournament action.

Kevin Spinozzi: Spinozzi's + 22 rating is good for 8th best in the Ontario Hockey League. The defenseman has 15PTS on the year.

Jakob Chychrun: After being sidelined with an injury for 8 weeks, Chychrun scored a highlight reel goal in his return to the lineup on Friday.

Troy Lajeunesse: Lajeunesse is tied for 8th in OHL rookie scoring with 17 points in 33 games this season.

Taylor Dupuis: Dupuis' .927 save % is tied for best in the OHL with Frontenacs' goaltender, Lucas Peressini. The overager is 12-4-0-1 on the year.

Injury Report: Matteo Ciccarelli - upper body (indefinitely), Connor Schlichting - upper body (indefinitely), Josh Chapman - upper body (indefinitely), Davis Brown - upper body (week-to-week), Patrick White - lower body (week-to-week)

Will Bitten : Bitten is tied with Lajeunesse for 8th in OHL rookie scoring with 17 points on the year.

Players to watch - London Knights

Mitch Marner : Marner leads the OHL scoring race with 27G and 85 points in 34 games played this season. The draft eligible winger is having a career year with the Knights, already surpassing his total of 59 points in his rookie season.

Michael McCarron : After being released from USA Hockey's World Junior Camp this week, McCarron will return to the Knights for the New Year's Eve game. The big-bodied Canadiens' prospect has 33 points in 23 games this year.
