Hartford Wolf Pack News Release

The Wolf Pack (16-10-2-1, 35 pts.) split two home games this past week, to head into their Christmas break in third place in the Northeast Division, and fifth place in the Eastern Conference. The Pack had a four-game winning streak, and a season-high run of five straight games with at least a standings point (4-0-0-1), snapped in a 2-0 loss to Syracuse on Friday, but then rebounded for a 2-1 overtime win over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the XL Center on Saturday. Ryan Malone netted his first Wolf Pack game-winning goal in that victory, and Cedrick Desjardins improved to 3-0-1 in his last four decisions with 25 saves.

This week:

The Wolf Pack resume play on the night after Christmas, this Friday, December 26, hosting the Springfield Falcons at 7:00 PM. The Portland Pirates then visit the XL Center on Saturday night, also a 7:00 faceoff.

Friday, December 26 vs. the Springfield Falcons at the XL Center, 7:00 PM

- Once again this season, at this and all Friday-night Wolf Pack home games, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs and $2 beers at the XL Center, through the start of the second period.

- Also at Friday-night home games this year, "Hawk's Nest" will be featured in the XL Center's Comcast Coliseum Club, with Bob "Hawk" Crawford, the play-by-play voice of the Wolf Pack, conducting a Wolf Pack-themed interview from 6:00-6:20 PM. Questions and comments will be welcomed from the patrons enjoying the Comcast Coliseum Club's wide array of dining and beverage options. The Comcast Coliseum Club restaurant and bar area is open two hours prior to every Wolf Pack home game, to everyone holding a ticket to the game.

- This is "Gift Exchange Night" at the XL Center. Every fan can rid themselves of an unwanted Christmas gift, by putting it in a bag, bringing it to the game and exchanging it for someone else's gift. Items exchanged must have a minimum value of $15.

- The Falcons (20-9-1-0, 41 pts.) have fallen into a first-place tie with Springfield in the Northeast Division, despite winning 14 of their last 16 games.

- This is the second of ten meetings on the year between the Wolf Pack and their most familiar rivals the Falcons. The first was December 6, and Springfield posted a 1-0 shootout victory. Last year the Wolf Pack were 5-5-0-2 in a 12-game season series with the Falcons, 3-2-0-1 at home.

- The Falcons added veteran forward Luke Adam to their lineup December 16, after he was acquired by the parent Columbus Blue Jackets for Jerry D'Amigo. Adam has a goal and an assist in two games with Springfield since the trade.

- For this and all Wolf Pack home games, tickets start as low as $12 for youth 12 years old or younger and are available at the XL Center ticket office, on-line at www.hartfordwolfpack.com and by phone at (877) 522-8499.

- Broadcast - live with Bob Crawford and Mark Bailey on Fox Sports Radio 1410, on-line at www.foxsportsradio1410.com and on iHeartRadio. Video streaming at www.ahllive.com.

Saturday, December 27 vs. the Portland Pirates at the XL Center, 7:00 PM

- Fans are encouraged to bring their skates to this game, as there will be a free postgame skate on the XL Center ice.

- This is the second of four games on the year between the Wolf Pack and the Pirates, who also clashed in the Pack's home opener October 18. The Wolf Pack prevailed in that game, by a score of 2-1. The two clubs met six times last season, with the Wolf Pack going 4-2-0-0, 2-1-0-0 at home.

- Portland snapped an 0-5-1-0 drought in their last game, defeating Worcester 4-3 in overtime in Portland. That win lifted the Pirates back over .500, to 15-14-1-0 for 31 points, which is good for third place in the Atlantic Division.

- Henrik and Philip Samuelsson, sons of former Wolf Pack assistant coach, ex-Hartford Whaler defenseman and current New York Ranger assistant Ulf Samuelsson, are now Pirate teammates, after Philip Samuelsson was traded to Portland's parent club, the Phoenix Coyotes, by Pittsburgh December 5, for Rob Klinkhammer and a conditional 2016 draft pick.
