Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers and Fayetteville FireAntz met again on Saturday night. It was Pensacola whose explosive second period lead to their 5-2 victory at the Bay Center on a night that featured a "Frozen" theme that featured live performances from characters of the movie.
It was clear in the first period that the Ice Flyers were on a mission to rebound from the previous night as they outshot the FireAntz 18 to 8. However, Fayetteville's Kevin Murdock played big between the pipes as the period ended with no goals on either end of the ice.
The second period was a different story as a total of seven goals was scored between the two teams. Just over a minute in it was Brett Lutes who put the Ice Flyers on the board first from Nick Lazorko. At the 6:59 mark Nick McParland made it a two-goal game for his first as an Ice Flyer. Corey Banfield and Adam Pawlick added goals shortly after giving the FireAntz a tough hill to climb, but they wouldn't go down without a fight as Fayetteville's John Clewlow's power play goal at the 13:15 mark to make it a 4-1 game. It was only 11 seconds later that Randy Cameron closed the gap to two, but Cody Ferriero's power play goal at 17:07 of the second that restored their three goal lead to make it 5-2 going into the third.
After a very busy second period, the third mirrored the first period as both teams went scoreless and the Ice Flyers went on to win with a final score of 5-2.
