Windsor Spitfires News Release

(Saginaw, MI) - Dylan Sadowy scored three times and LaSalle native Devin Paliani had a pair, as the Spirit topped the Spitfires 7-4 Saturday night in the final game before the holiday break.

All even at 4-4 after 40 minutes, Saginaw (15-16-1-1) got a pair of goals in 35-second span early in the third period. Paliani's second of the game and third of the season came first, just 34 seconds into the frame, before Sadowy's second of the night and 18th of the season followed at 1:09.

Sadowy would add his third of the night on a shorthanded breakaway at 15:42, giving the home side all it would need to win the game and move nine points up on Windsor (11-20-1-0) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Daniil Vertiy's first Ontario Hockey League goal, along with markers from Aaron Luchuk (7), Trevor Murphy (11) and Sam Povorozniouk (9) accounted for Windsor's offense.

Jamie Lewis chipped in a pair of assists in a losing cause.

Alex Fotinos (21 saves) made his sixth consecutive start in the Windsor goal, but was pulled in favour of backup Brendan Johnston (10 saves) at the 1:09 mark of the third.

Jake Paterson made 32 saves in the win, his second in three nights as the Spirit swept a home-and- home series that also wrapped the season series between the clubs, which finished with three wins each.

The Spits are off now until returning to action December 28th, as they visit the Knights in London.
