Miracles Get Their First Win of the Season over the Storm

(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles best the Island Storm for the first time this season with a final score of 118-104 in front of 1,675 fans.

The visiting Island Storm came out strong in the first twelve minutes of play. They would lead by as may as 11 points over the Miracles. Moncton would end the first quarter trying to dig themselves out of a 26-34 hole.

The Miracles would make a push in the second quarter and end the half with a 55-53 lead over the Storm. Trayvon Lathan would lead the way for the Miracles with 16 points, while Dwayne Smith and Chris Matthews added in with 8 each. Billy Rush was the first half go to guy for the Storm with 16 points, Rashad Whack netted 11.

The third quarter was an intense one, with the lead going back and forth between the two teams. Moncton would manage to pull ahead slightly to give them a slight advantage going into the last 12 minutes of play, 82-81. The Miracles would come alive in the fourth quarter and take complete control of the game, which the Storm had no answer for.

Moncton has now won 4 of their last 5 games and move into sole possession of third place in the Atlantic Conference. The team had another unbelievable night from behind the arc shooting 65%.

Daquan Brooks led the way for the Miracles with 21 points and 7 assists. Chris Matthews followed with 20 points and Dwayne Smith netted 19. Trayvon Lathan suffered a minor concussion.

Rashad Whack was the force for the Storm with 29 points. Billy Rush dropped 20 for the visiting Island squad.

The Miracles travel to the Island to take on the Storm on Friday, December 26th. The Miracles next home game is scheduled for Sunday, January 4th against the Island Storm. Tip-off is 2pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
