December 19, 2014 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - The Houston Astros have announced their minor league field staffs for 2015, and returning are Ed Romero as the ValleyCats skipper, Chris Holt as pitching coach, and Russ Steinhorn as hitting coach.

Romero will be entering his third consecutive season with Tri-City after posting a combined record of 92-60 in 2013-14. He has led the 'Cats to two straight Stedler Division titles and New York-Penn League Championship Series appearances, capturing the title in 2013.

With 36 more victories in 2015, Romero would become the ValleyCats all-time winningest manager. Only one other skipper has had a three-year tenure with the 'Cats, and that was Gregg Langbehn from 2004-06. During that span, Langbehn posted a 127-98 record leading the club to two division titles ('04, '06).

Holt returns to the ValleyCats for his second season, while Steinhorn will be the club's hitting coach for the third consecutive season.

The field staff will also consist of John Gregorich (athletic trainer) and James McNichol (strength), both entering their first season with Tri-City.

The ValleyCats are coming off of a record-setting 2014 campaign, finishing with the third-best record in franchise history at 48-28, winning a club-best 26 games at home. The 'Cats captured their third straight Stedler Division title, and appeared in their fourth New York-Penn League Championship Series in the last five years.

The 'Cats also set a regular-season attendance record with 161,171 fans through the turnstiles at "The Joe."

The ValleyCats begin the 2015 season with a six-game road trip in Connecticut and Brooklyn, before kicking off Opening Night festivities on Thursday, June 25 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, the first of a three-game set vs. the Staten Island Yankees. The full schedule is available online at tcvalleycats.com. Season tickets, mini-plans and flex plans are all available for purchase. For tickets, call 518-629-CATS or log-on to tcvalleycats.com.
