Gladiators Game Preview: Gladiators at Everblades

ESTERO, Fla. - The Gladiators (7-14-1-0) play in their final road game before the Christmas break tonight at Germain Arena against the Florida Everblades (18-3-0-1). On Wednesday, the Gladiators almost came back from a three-goal deficit in the third period to tie the Everblades. Gwinnett scored two goals on 11 shots in a final period that was heavily tiled in the team's offensive zone.
The Gladiators will head back to Duluth at the conclusion of the game, and will take on the Orlando Solar Bears at The Arena at Gwinnett Center at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday. It will be the annual Holiday Game, and the Gladiators' final game before Christmas.
Glads Notes:
Glads to See Ya: Jordon Southorn was reassigned to the Gladiators on Wednesday morning for the second time this season. Starting on the blue line later that night, Southorn scored just 25 seconds into the match on a shot from the top of the zone. Tonight, forward Travis Ouellette will make his Gladiators debut after being acquired in a trade with the Indy Fuel on Tuesday.
Power Surge: The Gladiators power play is clicking at a 16.9% conversion rate, good for 15th in the league. At home, the team is 6-for-43 (14%), 18th in the league. On the road, they are even better - 8-for-40 (20%), 9th in the ECHL. The team has scored a power play goal in four of their last five games played.
All in in the Third: Over the last week, the Gladiators have been a team possessed in the third period. In three of their last four games, the third period has been Gwinnett's best period - they have outshot opponents 43 to 18 and have outscored them four to two.
No Shot: The Glads are one of only two teams in the league to not have reached the shootout this season. The Alaska Aces are the only other team. The Gladiators are 2-1 in OT.
Gladiators Ahoy: Four players currently on the Gladiators roster have been assigned from their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates- James Melindy, Nathan Burns, Mike Lee, and Jordon Southorn - and six more - Joel Hanley (POR), Dan O'Donoghue (POR), Greg Carey (POR), Dyson Stevenson (POR), Bretton Stamler (HFD), and Casey Pierro-Zabotel (NOR) - have been spent time in the AHL this year.
Milestones: Eric Springer is two games away from his 100th regular season professional game ... Garry Nunn is four goals away from his 50th professional tally, and achieved his 100th professional assist on Sunday ... Geoff Paukovich is one game away from his 300th ECHL game.
Streaks: Defenseman Tristin Llewellyn has two goals and four assists in his last seven games and had a four-game point streak snapped on Wednesday ... Casey Pierro-Zabotel has a goal and seven assists in his last five games.
