Cleveland Monsters News Release

Despite not holding a lead until 1:56 remained in regulation, the Lake Erie Monsters (13-10-2-2) earned a 4-3 comeback win over the Milwaukee Admirals (13-10-0-3) Thursday night at Quicken Loans Arena. Mitchell Heard led the way for the Monsters with a "Gordie Howe Hat Trick", registering a goal, an assist, and a fighting major in the game. Paul Carey, Stefan Elliott, and Andrew Agozzino also scored goals for the Monsters, while Roman Will earned the victory in net. The Monsters close out their five-game homestand on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. against Grand Rapids.

Milwaukee struck first at 7:56 of the first period when a Taylor Aronson shot was redirected past Monsters goalie Roman Will by Milwaukee's Felix Girard. Pontus Aberg extended the Milwaukee lead to 2-0 with a power play goal on a one-timer from the left circle at 17:48 of the opening period.

Mitchell Heard scored the only goal of the second period, bringing the Monsters to within a goal and making the score 2-1. Sam Henley carried the puck into the offensive end, and Heard ultimately located a rolling puck in the left circle before snapping it over the shoulder of Milwaukee goalie Marek Mazanec at the 17:21 mark of the second period. Heard's goal was his second of the season.

After building pressure throughout the second period and into the third period, the Monsters tied the game when Mitchell Heard's wrist shot from just inside the blue line was redirected into the net by Paul Carey for his seventh goal of the season at 13:23 of the third period. Max Noreau also assisted on the goal. At 18:04, Joey Hishon spotted an open Stefan Elliott in the slot, and Elliott snapped a wrist shot that beat Mazanec to give the Monsters a 3-2 lead; their first lead of the game. The goal was the seventh for Elliott, which tied Carey's team-leading total, and was also assisted by Tomas Vincour.

Andrew Agozzino beat Mazanec over the shoulder on a shot from the right circle just 26 seconds later to give the Monsters a 4-2 lead. The goal was the fourth of the season for Agozzino, was assisted by Kenny Ryan, and proved to be the game-winning goal. Austin Watson scored on a redirection with 55 seconds left in the game for Milwaukee to make the score 4-3, but the Admirals were unable to tie the game after Watson's late goal.

Roman Will is 2-4-0 with the win in net; he stopped 19 of 22 shots. Marek Mazanec stopped 28 of 32 Monsters shots, and is 7-8-1 in net for the Admirals.

The Monsters are home against Grand Rapids on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The game marks the final home game for the Monsters in the 2014 calendar year, and it airs live on AM 1420 "˜The Answer'.
