Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (December 18, 2014) - The Quad City Mallards will wear a special edition jersey in their March 14 home game created by Australian Heath Morrison, the winner of the team's fan jersey design contest, the Mallards announced today.

The jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit the Genesis Health Services Foundation immediately after the Mallards meet the Wichita Thunder March 14 . Morrison's concept was chosen from among scores of entries submitted by fans from throughout North America and around the world. The Mallards teamed with Hockey Jersey Concepts for the contest.

"We were overwhelmed by both the quantity and high quality of entries in our jersey design contest. We were especially surprised to receive numerous designs from all over the world, including our winner from Australia," said Mallards president Bob McNamara. "Selecting the winner proved to be an extremely difficult decision to make because there were so many excellent submissions, but Heath's jersey has a classic but unique look that in the end made it the right choice."

The body of the winning design is in the Mallards' light pewter with a white stripe across the chest while the shoulders and sleeves are green trimmed in orange. The front of the sweater features a retro Mallard angry duck logo- originally sported by the Flock between 2001 and 2005- in the team's contemporary colors on a shield baring the club's name and the inscription "since 1995"- the Mallards' inaugural season. The jersey also features the club's current flying Mallard logo on the back of the collar and the secondary webbed foot logo on each shoulder.

Morrison, a resident of Melbourne, will receive an authentic jersey of his design.

Over the last 19 years, Mallards jersey auctions have raised well over $700,000 to benefit Genesis Health System charities. The Mallards last season raised a total of $48,300 for Genesis Health System charities via a pair of postgame auctions.

The Mallards return to action Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. on home ice against the Brampton Beast. The first 1,000 fans through the doors of the iWireless Center for that game will receive free Mallards scarves.

Tickets for all remaining Mallards regular season home games- including Saturday evening's contest- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000 . The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.
