Toronto Marlies News Release

Last Week

The Toronto Marlies continued their hot start to December this past week collecting 5 of a possible 6 points over the weekend. On Friday the Marlies were in Utica to take on the North Division leading Utica Comets. Toronto would prevail in a thrilling game which saw Toronto mount a late comeback to force overtime, where Sam Carrick scored his first goal of the year; the game winner. Antoine Bibeau, who had an impressive weekend, made 46 saves in the win. The Marlies then travelled back to Ricoh for an afternoon match- up against the St. John's Ice Caps. Toronto would play a strong game but surrendered the lead late in the third period when Eric O'Dell scored his third goal of the game to force overtime. In the extra frame the Ice Caps would capitalize on a power play opportunity to earn the additional point. The two teams would play again Sunday afternoon, this time as part of the annual Teddy Bear toss game. Troy Bodie would score first for the Marlies, which would send the bears to the ice. Toronto would shut out the Ice Caps 4-0 behind another strong effort from Antoine Bibeau who made 21 saves to earn his third shutout of the year. With the shutout Bibeau moves into 5th all-time amongst Marlies shutout leaders. Connor Brown collected 4 more points this weekend to push his team leading total to 21.
