KEARNEY, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm are recognizing former forwards Trevor Mingoia, Cody Murphy and Brad Schierhorn as their alumni of the month in December. Each month during the season, the team will select a group of former players based on their contributions on the ice at the next level.

Mingoia, who was recognized by the Hockey East as its Player of the Week on Nov. 17, has been having a breakout season at Providence College. Through 16 games, Mingoia leads the Friars in scoring with nine goals and seven assists. He also leads the team in shots on goal (53), plus-minus (+6), power play goals (3), and game-winning goals (4).

Most recently, Mingoia scored with 3:46 remaining in regulation to give Providence a 4-3 victory over No. 13 Colgate University on Dec. 9. The junior now has 13 points in his last 10 games.

Last year, in his sophomore season with the Friars, Mingoia had five goals and 10 assists in 26 games, while contributing to his team's run to the NCAA Tournament.

With the Storm during the 2012-13 season, Mingoia joined the team midway through the year and instantly became a leader on and off the ice. Through 43 games with Tri-City, the Fairport, N.Y. native had 13 goals and 26 assists and finished fifth on the team in scoring.

Murphy was named NCHC Offensive Player of the Week on Dec. 8 after scoring four goals, including his first collegiate hat trick for Miami in a weekend series with Nebraska-Omaha.

The senior has 10 points on five goals and five assists this season, and is currently on a three-game point streak. In 110 games with Miami, Murphy has 23 goals and 26 assists while helping to make his squad one of the best in the NCAA. The Redhawks are currently ranked No. 6 in the country.

The Highwood, Ill. native played two seasons in Kearney from 2009-11, scoring 21 goals and 20 assists.

Schierhorn, a junior at Dartmouth College, earned the spotlight in a 2-0 win over the top team in the country, Boston University, on Nov. 30. The forward scored both goals in the game for his team during a five minute span in the second period and was named ECAC Player of the Week on Dec. 2 for his efforts.
