Maier and Fora to Compete at 2015 World Junior Championships

Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers will have two of their import defensemen compete for their respective countries at the 2015 World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal from December 26 - January 5. Patrik Maier will play for Slovakia and Michael Fora will play for Switzerland.
Maier was selected by the Blazers with their first pick in the 2014 CHL Import Draft on July 2, 2014. The 18-year-old has three goals and six points in 33 games with the Blazers this season.
The native of Bratislava, Slovakia has competed for his country in international events many times including the U-17 World Hockey Challenge, the U-18 Ivan Hlinka Tournament and the U-18 World Championships.
Slovakia is in Group A with Canada, United States, Finland and Germany. Maier and the Slovakian team will play Canada on December 26th in the first game of the tournament in Montreal.
Fora was selected by the Blazers in second round of the 2014 CHL Import Draft back in July. The 19-year-old has had a good season with the Blazers scoring four goals and collecting 20 points in 35 games.
The 6'3" and 205lb native of Bellinzona, Switzerland will represent his country for the first time at a sanctioned IIHF event.
Switzerland is in Group B with Sweden, Czech Republic, Russia and Denmark. They will open the tournament against the Czech Republic on December 27th in Toronto.
Maier will miss four games after the Christmas break. Fora will miss the Blazers last two games of their Central Division road trip in Kootenay and in Medicine Hat. He will also miss four games following the Christmas break.
