Vancouver Giants News Release

Mason Geertsen scored two goals and Cody Porter stopped all 27 shots he faced as the Vancouver Giants shutout the Victoria Royals 4-0 on Saturday night. The win was Vancouver's sixth in a row. Josh Thrower and Alec Baer also found the net for the G-Men in the victory.

Geertsen opened the scoring on a power play early in the first, blowing a slap shot from the point past Victoria goalie Jayden Sittler. Thrower extended the Vancouver lead later in the stanza with a power play goal of his own, scoring on a long shot from the left point.

Baer netted his eighth of the season in the second period, chipping a rebound past Sittler after a strong net drive by Dakota Odgers, before Geertsen added his second of the night, tallying another power play goal from the blue line.

The Royals had some pressure in the later stages of the third period, but Porter made a number of solid stops to pick up his second shutout of the season.

The Giants have one more game before the upcoming Christmas break as they'll host the Everett Silvertips on Tuesday night at 7:00pm. It will be Toonie Tuesday at the Rink on Renfrew as any fan who buys a full price ticket to the game can purchase a second ticket for only $2!
