Kitchener Rangers News Release

Justin Bailey scored his team leading 17th goal of the season in the Kitchener Rangers 4-1 loss to the Barrie Colts on Saturday night.

The Colts' opened the scoring in the first period, taking advantage in the dying seconds of a power play opportunity. Garrett Hooey held the puck in at the Rangers blueline, setting up rearguard Michael Webster. The third year Barrie skater pushed a shot past starter Matthew Greenfield for his third of the season. The second assist was credited to winger Justin Scott.

Barrie extended its lead to two goals with a short-handed tally at the midway point of the frame. Kevin Lebanc stretched his point streak to a 14th straight game, forcing a turnover and lifting a high shot over Greenfield for his 13th of the season.

The Colts led shots on goal 16-7 in the first period.

Andrew Mangiapane lifted Barrie to a 3-0 lead with the lone goal of the middle frame. Lebanc set up the play, lacing a pass across the front of the net and finding the sophomore centre open to the left of Greenfield. Mangiapane's power play goal was his 17th of the season and was also assisted by team scoring leader Joseph Blandisi.

The Rangers out-shot the Colts 13-9 in the second period.

Justin Bailey put the Rangers on the board with 6:30 left to play. The Williamsville, NY native's pass attempt from behind the net bounced off a skate in front and squeezed between the pads of Colts goalie Mackenzie Blackwood. Second year rearguard Doug Blaisdell earned the lone helper on Bailey's team leading 17th of the year.

Lebanc added his second of the game late, firing into an empty Rangers net with 1:56 to play. Defenceman Brandon Prophet picked up an assist on the play.
