Portland Pirates News Release
Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have recalled forward Dyson Stevenson from their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators.
Stevenson, a 6-foot, 185 pound right wing from Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, joins the Pirates after playing 19 games this season with the Gladiators, scoring three goals and four assists for seven points.
Last season, Stevenson made his pro debut with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors, skating in four regular season games at the end of the year.
An undrafted free agent, the 21 year-old signed a one-year, two-way AHL/ECHL contract with Portland over the summer. Prior to turning pro, Stevenson played four full seasons with the Regina Pats of the WHL. In 252 regular season games, he scored 75-93-168. Stevenson set career highs in 2013-14 with 38-38-76 to conclude his major junior career.
Before being assigned to Gwinnett, Stevenson participated in Portland Pirates training camp this fall and played in two preseason games.
Stevenson will be eligible to play for Portland tonight as they travel to Providence to face the Bruins at 7:05 p.m. from the Dunkin Donuts Center. Jeff Mannix has the call of all the action starting with the Pirates Pregame Show at 6:45 on the WPEI Portland Pirates Radio Network, portlandpirates.com, and ahllive.com.
