Omaha Lancers News Release

BLOOMINGTON, IL - Kris Oldham stopped all 35 shots on net for his first USHL shutout while Jimmy Schuldt and Jake Henderson provided the scoring as the Omaha Lancers defeated Bloomington 2-0, ending the Thunder's five game winning streak in front of 2,502 fans at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Friday night.

After no scoring in the first period Omaha finally broke the ice over midway through the second frame. At 12:46 of the second period, Bloomington's Jacob Slaker sat in the penalty box for a tripping minor penalty. Omaha set up the mad advantage at the top of the circles looking for a chance on net. Brian Williams fired a shot on target that was stopped by goaltender David Jacobson but Jimmy Schuldt slid down and picked up the rebound to score his first goal on the power-play this year and 6th overall to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead with only 6:13 remaining in the period. Assists were credited to Williams with the original shot and Drew Best as well.

In the third and final period of regulation a great passing play put the Lancers up by two goals early on. Niklas Folin stepped up and intercepted a pass inside the neutral zone to start a rush back the other was for Omaha. Folin gave the puck to Louie Rowe in the right wing circle who then found Jake Henderson trailing the rush. Henderson took the pass from Rowe and wristed in his fourth goal of the year with assists from Rowe and Folin for a 2-0 lead at 6:20 of the third period.

The penalty-killing unit for Omaha went 7-7 on the night denying every change Bloomington had on the power-play, including two key kills late in the game. Goaltender Kris Oldham recorded his first USHL shutout stopping all 35 shots he faced in net for his third win of the year.

Omaha remains on the road tomorrow night at Buccaneer Arena to take on Des Moines at 7:05PM! Can't make it? LIVE coverage begins at 6:50PM with the Valpak Pregame Show LIVE on "The Mighty" 1290 KOIL, "The Mighty" 1290 KOIL Mobile APP, www.1290koil.com, & www.FASTHockey.com.
