December 12, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Portland Pirates News Release

Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have reassigned goalie Mike Lee to their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators.

Lee, a 6-foot-1, 190 pound goalie from Roseau, Minnesota, hasn't played in a game since December 6, 2013, when he stopped 14 of 18 shots in 36:50 of action against the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The 24 year-old third year pro then had season-ending surgery. Lee was sidelined earlier in the 2013-14 season by a second chronic injury. He only appeared in five games for Portland last season.

Lee has played in a total of 21 games with Portland in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, with a 9-8-1 record, a 2.95 goals against average, and a 0.907 save percentage.

This will be Lee's first reassignment to Gwinnett since he stopped 29 of 30 shots for the Gladiators on November 11, 2013 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina against the Greenville Road Warriors.

Lee began his pro career during the 2012-13 season with Gwinnett. He participated in the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game. Over the last two seasons in Gwinnett, Lee has played 29 games with a 15-12-1 record, a 2.30 goals against average, a 0.913 save percentage, and two shutouts.

Originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the 3rd Round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Lee played three seasons of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey for the St. Cloud State University Huskies of the WCHA. Lee also represented Team USA as it won the gold medal at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Lee will be eligible to play for the Gladiators when they host the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday night.

The Pirates return home tonight for Game 4 of the VIP Cup Series, presented by VIP Tires & Service, against the Manchester Monarchs. It's the Pirates annual Teddy Bear Toss. Bring a new, stuffed toy to the game and throw it on the ice when the Pirates score their first goal. Pirates players will deliver all stuffed animals thrown on the ice to patients at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland next week.
