Sharks Recall Forward Melker Karlsson

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled forward Melker Karlsson from the Worcester Sharks (AHL).

In his first professional season in North America, the 24 year-old Karlsson has posted 10 points (5-5=10) in 20 games for Worcester this season, ranking T-3rd on the team in goals (5) and T-5th on the team in points (10).

In 216 career games in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), all with Skelleftea AIK, Karlsson tallied 66 points (31-35=66) and 46 penalty minutes. In 71 career playoff games Karlsson posted 32 points (9-23=32), helping the team win the last two championships (2013, 2014).

The six-foot, 180-pound native of Lycksele, Sweden, was originally signed as a free agent on May 30, 2014.

Additionally, forward Tyler Kennedy has been placed on injured reserve and goaltender Troy Grosenick has been reassigned to Worcester.
