Knights' Max Domi Named Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week

December 8, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) News Release

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Arizona Coyotes prospect Max Domi of the London Knights is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 7 with eight points in three games scoring five goals and three assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-2.

Domi took over the OHL's scoring lead by playing a role in all eight Knights' goals last week helping his club hold onto second place in the Midwest Division claiming four out of six points. After being held without a point on Friday night in a 4-0 loss to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, Domi found the net three times for his second hat-trick of the season on Saturday night as first star of a 3-1 road win over the Plymouth Whalers. On Sunday afternoon in London, Domi recorded his third five-point game of the season as part of a 5-4 overtime victory against the North Bay Battalion. In that contest, Domi scored twice including the game-tying and game-winning goal to complete the Knights' comeback after trailing 4-1 late in the second period. He also collected three assists including one on fellow Coyotes prospect Christian Dvorak's goal at 8:15 of the first period to send 9,077 teddy bears to the ice at Budweiser Gardens in support of Salvation Army London.

Domi, a 19-year-old from Toronto, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season with the Knights. Selected by the Coyotes in the first round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Domi leads the OHL with 58 points in 27 games including 17 goals and 41 assists. The Knights' captain is one of 12 OHL players invited to Canada's National Junior Team Selection Camp which opens Thursday in Toronto.

Honourable mention for the award this week goes to Edmonton Oilers prospect Kyle Platzer of the Owen Sound Attack who scored five goals and three assists for eight points in three games, while both Kevin Labanc of the Barrie Colts and Bryson Cianfrone of the Mississauga Steelheads were also considered for each scoring one goal with seven assists for eight points in three games. In goal, Ken Appleby of the Oshawa Generals went 2-0-0-0 with a shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 0.50 and save percentage of .980.
