Bexar County to Recognize the 2014 NASL Champion San Antonio Scorpions

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Monday, December 8, 2014) - The San Antonio Scorpions are set to receive recognition from Bexar County of their recently won North American Soccer League (NASL) championship. This will be the second official recognition for the team as they were also publicly congratulated by San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor and the City Council on Nov. 18, 2014.
The Soccer Bowl trophy will be presented by the Scorpions at Tuesday morning's Commissioners Court meeting at the Bexar County Courthouse in downtown San Antonio. The Commissioners and County Judge will have the opportunity to publicly offer the team their official congratulations while the club will thank the Commissioners Court for their support. The meeting begins at 10AM and the Scorpions will be represented by o wner Gordon Hartman and front office staff.
The Scorpions won the first league championship in team history - and first ever professional soccer title for the city of San Antonio - last month with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers. The match was played in front of a modern NASL championship game-record crowd of 7,847 fans at Toyota Field.
