Melindy Back in Gwinnett

DULUTH, Ga. - The Arizona Coyotes have assigned defenseman James Melindy from their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates, to their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators, on Monday. This is Melindy's second time in Gwinnett after being recalled to Portland last Wednesday.
Melindy, 20, has already played in four games with the Gladiators, picking up two penalty minutes and a +2 rating. He has also played in nine games with Portland this season, and another 40 since 2013. He has accumulated two goals and 40 penalty minutes in his 49 career AHL games.
The native of St. John's, Newfoundland was drafted in the third round (88th overall) by the Coyotes in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft following three years in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats. In 168 regular season games with the Wildcats, Melindy tallied 56 points on 17 goals and 39 assists.
Melindy joins the Gladiators in time for their two game road trip to Toledo and Kalamazoo. The team will play the Walleye on December 9th at 7:15 p.m. and the K-Wings on December 10th at 7:00 p.m. The Gladiators will return home on the 13th and 14th for the annual "Sing for Santa" weekend.
