EUGENE, OR - The Eugene Emeralds, recently announced their new affiliation as the Class-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The Ems are excited to announce that fans of all ages have an opportunity to meet the Emeralds new manager and several members of Player Development and Amateur Scouting Department for the Chicago Cubs.

On Monday, December 15, 2014 the Emeralds will host a Meet the Cubs event at Ninkasi Brewing Offices located at 155 Blair Blvd., Eugene, OR from 6:30PM until 8:30PM. This unique, free event will allow fans to talk Chicago Cubs baseball and philosophy with Jaron Madison, Director of Player Development; Matt Dorey, Director of Amateur Scouting and Gary VanTol the Emeralds Field Manager for the upcoming 2015 season. It will also be the first opportunity for fans to purchase new Emeralds/Cubs merchandise just in time for the holidays.

Jaron Madison joined the Cubs organization in 2010 after spending the previous three years as Director of Amateur Scouting for the San Diego Padres, his third stint with the organization. Madison began his professional baseball career as an associate area scout with the Padres in 2002.

Matt Dorey, the Cubs Scouting Director took over the post in 2013 after working for the Cubs as one of their national crosscheckers. Prior to that he spent four years with the Boston Red Sox as an area scout in Texas and Louisiana.

Gary VanTol took over the managerial position in 2013 after five years as an assistant coach for the Boise Hawks. VanTol lead the Hawks to the Northwest League Playoffs in both the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Prior to his time with the Chicago Cubs organization, Gary VanTol accrued a tremendous amount of coaching and playing experience both at the colligate and professional level.

Fans of all ages are welcome to attend the event. Doors will open at 6:30PM at 155 Blair Blvd. Ninkasi Brewing Offices will have food and beverages available for purchase. Fans will also have an opportunity to win raffle prizes including Cubs autographed memorabilia.

The 2015 schedule has been announced and is available online at emeraldsbaseball.com. Full-season, half-season tickets and mini plans are available now, individual game tickets will be on sale starting in May of 2015. Emeralds merchandise is available year round on the online store at emeraldsbaseball.com.
