December 7, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Amarillo Bulls News Release

ODESSA, TX - The Amarillo Bulls had struggled on the road coming into their weekend series with the Odessa Jackalopes. What the Bulls accomplished over the past two games will certainly go a long way to gaining them confidence the rest of the way.

The Bulls took their second straight road win and swept the weekend series with the Odessa Jackalopes with a 4-1 triumph on Saturday night at Ector County Coliseum.

All of the offense was provided in an 11 minutes span dating back from the final minute of the first period to the first 10 minutes of the second. Will Harrison, Brady Crabtree, Charlie Combs and Addison Runey tallied for the Bulls. The difference in the game was goaltender Jacob Weatherly who looked calm, cool and collective turning aside 33 of 34 shots he faced. His shutout bid was snapped late in the third period.

Saturday's victory moved the Bulls to within two points of sixth place in the South Division. The Bulls have two more road games remaining before they get a taste of home ice. Amarillo has a pair of games set for Corpus Christi on Thursday and Friday at American Bank Center.

It was a defensive battle in the opening 20 minutes with 17 shots combined between the two teams. The line of Elijiah Barriga, Brady Crabtree and JJ Huerena were buzzing in side Jackalopes territory and missed on a couple of great chances in front of the net. The Bulls notched their third power play goal of the weekend in the final 15 seconds of the stanza when Brady Crabtree scored from Kyle Hartman and Charlie Combs. Amarillo outshot Odessa 9-8.

The second period started quickly for the Amarillo Bulls with two goals in the first 2:08. Will Harrison scored on a blistering shot from Luke Novak at 1:36 and then 32 seconds later Addison Runey pushed the puck across the goal line with help of Riley Christensen and Trent Dillinger. That third goal chased goaltender Robin Johansson who was replaced by Forbes Ploszaj. The Bulls were not done yet as Charlie Combs made it 4-0 on an unassisted marker. The Jakalopes outshot the Bulls 11-7 in the middle stanza.

The Jackalopes rallied in the third period and had the Bulls pinned inside their own end for much of the stanza firing 15 shots on goal but scoring just once. The Bulls defense was minus three players due to injury and flu-like symptoms.

Odessa outshot Amarillo 34-20 including 15-4 in the final 20 minutes. The Bulls were 1 for 7 on the power play while the Jackalopes were just 0 for 3.

Box Score - Amarillo 4 - Odessa 1
