Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI--A pair of third period goals by Frederick Gaudreau helped the Admirals make a comeback bid but they couldn't get the equalizer and eventually fell 5-3 to the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

It was the fourth loss in a row for the Admirals, including the last two at home to begin their season-long five game homestand.

Brad Hunt gave the Barons an early lead when he found a loose puck in the high slot and hammered a slapper past Ads goalie Maraek Mazanec 5:49 into the game.

Colton Sissons evened the score at one and started an avalanche of teddy bears with his goal at 11:01 of the opening period. Miikka Salomaki carried the puck through the neutral zone and split a pair of Barons defenders. He held the puck long enough to draw OKC goalie Laurent Brossoit out of the net before sliding the puck over to a crashing Sissons for the goal.

Over a thousand teddy bears rained on the ice and were collected and donated to UMOS, a multi-cultural non-profit serving southeastern Wisconsin.

However, the Barons scored a pair of power-play goals just 2:06 apart in the second period to build a 3-1 lead. Anton Lander earned the first one at the 15:44 mark and then, after a hooking call to Salomaki, Hunt tallied his second of the night with 2:10 remaining in the second.

A Ryan Hamilton goal just 63 seconds into the third period made it 4-1 Oklahoma City.

The Ads got back into the game as Gaudreau scored his second of the year at 2:18 of the third. The play started when Joe Piskula fired a shot that went wide of the net and rebounded off the wall right back to Gaudreau at the left post.

Gaudreau struck again from almost the exact same spot to pull Milwaukee within one at 4:52. Anthony Bitetto fired a shot from the left point and Brossoit made the initial stop, but the puck fell in front of him and Joe Pendenza kicked the puck over to Gaudreau, who had an open net for his first professional two-goal game.

A pair of power-plays later in the period gave the Ads several good chances to tie the score, but the Barons successfully killed off both of them and then Jason Williams scored an empty-netter with nine seconds to play to seal the game.

The Admirals continue their homestand tomorrow afternoon when they host the Grand Rapids Griffins at 3 pm.
