Prince George Cougars News Release
Prince George, B.C. - The Prince George Cougars are very excited to bring back the tradition of having the Prince George Firefighters assist with our annual Teddy Bear Toss Game, which take place Tuesday, December 9th at the CN Centre against the Saskatoon Blades. Tuesday's game with the Blades marks the second of the five feature games that headline the 2014-15 Cougars home schedule.
All fans who attend Tuesday's game are encouraged to bring a stuffed toy, a toque or mittens with them. When the Cougars score their first goal of the game, fans will throw their stuffed toys onto the ice. From there, all of the toys will be gathered up, loaded into vehicles provided by Northland Nissan and donated to the Prince George Salvation Army.
"There really isn't anything else quite like it during the hockey season," said Prince George Cougars Vice President - Business, Andy Beesley. "The energy in the building alone is going to make this the best Teddy Bear Toss yet in Prince George and we are beyond thrilled to welcome the Prince George Firefighters to the New Ice Age and we look forward to them playing an integral role in the evening."
Beesley adds, "We are already over 75 percent sold out for Tuesday's game, and we know that sales are only going to improve over the next few days. I want to remind everyone that our awesome laser light show starts at 6:54 PM, so get to the CN Centre early to avoid long lines."
Once the Teddy Bear Goal is scored, members of the Prince George Fire Department are going to pull the netting up from behind the goaltenders so that fans will be able throw their stuffed toys onto the ice from anywhere in the building, without having to leave their seats.
Tyler Mrkonjic scored the Teddy Bear Goal in 2013 against the Tri-City Americans. Will be repeat in 2014? Will it be Cougars captain Sam Ruopp? One of the local boys in Jari Erricson or Chase Witala? There's only one way to find out for sure and that is to get your tickets for Teddy Bear Toss 2014 now! Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at: 250-564-5585 or online at www.pgcougars.com - We look forward to a loud and festive atmosphere on Tuesday night.
