Grizzlies Beat Cincinnati 4-3 in Shootout

Cincinnati, Ohio - The Utah Grizzlies (8-7-2-2) defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones (7-6-0-3) 4-3 in a shootout Wednesday night at US Bank Arena.
Michael Pelech factored in on all three Utah goals in regulation with two goals and one assist and ended the game for the second-straight contest with a shootout goal.
Utah jumped up 1-0 34 seconds into the game when Michael Pelech scored on Utah's first shot of the night as Brent Gwidt added an assist.
Pelech's second of the night on a shorthanded breakaway made it 2-0 Utah at 13:10 of the first period. The Cyclones scored 64 seconds later on their power-play and then added one in the second period to tie.
The Grizzlies took the lead back with 9:04 left in the third period on a blast from Matt Pelech for his second third period goal in two games as Utah scored with three seconds left on a power-play. Michael Pelech and Barry Almeida added assists. Cincinnati though tied on a power-play with 41 seconds left as they went six-on-four with an extra attacker on the power-play.
In the shootout, both goaltenders denied each team's first three shots before Danick Paquette scored in the top of round four and Michael Pelech ended the game in round five to make it 2-0.
Utah goaltender Joe Howe improved to 2-1-0-2 by stopping 36 of 39 shots and all four in the shootout.
Grizzlies forward Mathieu Aubin played in his 500th professional game in the contest against the team who he played 291 games for before coming to the Grizzlies in November of 2013.
The Grizzlies now move on to Wheeling, West Virginia for games Friday and Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
