Max Strang Named Easton Player of the Month

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Max Strang of the Pensacola Ice Flyers is the Easton Player of the Month for October/November.

Strang went 9-0-1, posting a 1.58 goals against average, a .946 save percentage and four shutouts as he led the Ice Flyers to a 6-0-0 start, matching the second-longest winning streak from the start of a season (Huntsville Havoc, 2008).

Strang also recorded the third-longest scoreless streak in SPHL history, posting back-to-back shutouts of Columbus (October 25) and Peoria (October 31) and going 163:58 without yielding a goal.

The Gilbertsville, PA native currently leads all SPHL goaltenders in six categories, including wins, shutouts and save percentage.

Strang played his collegiate hockey at Mercyhurst University, posting a career record of 30-29-6 with a 2.81 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player following his junior season and led the country in assists by a goaltender (4) his senior season. While at Mercyhurst, Strang majored in intelligence studies and Russian studies.
