Blades plan several big December Games
December 2, 2014 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Holiday season is quickly upon us and the Saskatoon Blades are getting into the spirit with some exciting games coming up. Friday, December 12th vs. the Moose Jaw Warriors is Secret Santa Night with CJWW. The CJWW Secret Santa program, which has been running every year since 1983, encourages fans to bring new, unwrapped toys to the game which will be donated to less fortunate families with children under the age of 12. They will be set up on the concourse and will also be taking cash donations.
December 12th also marks the return of popular super fan, Cameron Hughes. Cameron Hughes has been entertaining fans at sporting events for over 20 years, and he will bring his energy and dance moves to the SaskTel Centre for one crazy night!
The following night, when the Blades take on the Regina Pats, the SaskTel centre will be in full Holiday mode. It's our annual Global TV Toque Toss night, when the Blades score their first goal, fans are asked to throw new and gently used toques, scarves and mitts onto the ice which will be collected and donated to shelters, community groups, and schools across Saskatoon.
December 13th will also be the night that the Blades dawn their "Ugly" Christmas Sweater Jersey. Fans are also encouraged to wear their ugliest sweaters to the game. The game worn jerseys can be purchased through a silent auction on the concourse with proceeds benefitting the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Hockey League in Saskatoon. The donation will help get kids, who otherwise could not afford to play hockey, onto the ice.
Finally, as a gift from the Blades to their fans, being that this will be our last home game prior to the holiday break in action, we will be allowing all children (up to 12 years old) into the game for free with the purchase of an adult ticket. This offer will only be valid at the SaskTel Centre Box Office starting on December 8th.
It's an exciting pair of games on the 12th and 13th which is guaranteed to get everyone into the holiday spirit. Make sure to follow us on twitter @bladeshockey for all the updates. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.ca or at the Blades office at 306-975-8844.
