Rockets' Chartier Named WHL Player of the Month

CALGARY, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that forward Rourke Chartier of the Kelowna Rockets is the WHL Player of the Month for November 2014.
An 18-year-old from Saskatoon, SK, Chartier amassed 28 points (18g-10a) to go along with a plus-10 rating in 14 games played during November, helping the Rockets to a 9-2-3-0 record in that span. Chartier recorded at least one point in 13 of the 14 games he played in during November and scored a goal in eight straight games to start the month. Chartier recorded multiple-point outings on nine occasions and was tops amongst all WHL players in points through November.
Chartier also potted four game-winning goals in the month of November and scored five power play markers. The 5'11", 190 lb forward leads the WHL with 48 points (29g-19a) this season and his plus-24 rating is currently good for second in the WHL. The forward has already set a new career high for goals.
Chartier's outstanding performances in November saw him earn three star nods on eight occasions including three first star selections, four second star nods, and one third star honour. In addition, Chartier earned the title of Denny's WHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 9th and his strong effort during November helped the Rockets maintain first place overall in the WHL standings.
Chartier is in his third WHL season with the Rockets and has netted 136 points (66g-70a) in 157 career regular season contests. He was chosen by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round, 149th overall, of the 2014 NHL Draft. Yesterday, Chartier was invited to Canada's National Junior Team Selection Camp in advance of the 2014 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
Chartier's accomplishments make him a deserving choice as the WHL Player of the Month for November.
