Rockets Trade Heffley to Prince Albert

December 2, 2014 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kelowna Rockets News Release

Kelowna Rockets President/General Manager Bruce Hamilton announced on Tuesday that the Rockets have traded over-age forward Colton Heffley to the Prince Albert Raiders.

The Rockets receive a 4th round 2016 WHL bantam draft pick in exchange for Heffley, a 20-year old native of Swift Current, SK, who was in his fifth full season with the Rockets.

"I'd like to thank Colton for his years of service to our organization," said Hamilton. "He's a quality person and has been a solid part of our team on and off the ice. We wish him all the best with Prince Albert."

Since joining the Rockets as a second round WHL bantam draft pick in 2009, Heffley has played in 309 total games with the Rockets regular season and playoffs combined.

In 27 games this season the 6-foot-3 right wing has three goals and seven assists.

Heffley is expected to join the Raiders Wednesday night in Prince George.

The move leaves the Rockets with two over-age players in Tyrell Goulbourne and Cole Martin, leaving the club room to add another veteran player.

The Rockets are back in action on Wednesday night when they will host the Saskatoon Blades at Prospera Place.
