Monarchs Agree to AHL Contract with Gratton

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed forward Josh Gratton to a Standard Player Contract (SPC). Gratton began the season with a Professional Try Out (PTO).

Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough made the announcement.

Gratton, 32, has appeared in 13 games with Manchester this season. He has one assist, a plus-1 rating and 36 penalty minutes. The left winger played in 11 games last season for Astana Barys of the KHL, where he totaled four points (goal, 3 assists). He has 35 goals and 39 assists in 247 career AHL games. Gratton has played in 86 NHL games in his career (3 goals, 3 assists) and has 294 penalty minutes in time split between Philadelphia (22 games) and Arizona (64 games). A native of Brantford, ON, he was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Flyers in 2004.

The Monarchs return to the ice on Friday when they travel to Portland for a 7 p.m. game against the Pirates. The team finishes out the weekend at the Verizon Wireless Arena with back-to-back games against Norfolk (7 p.m. on Saturday, 3 p.m. on Sunday).
