Former Rockets Enjoying WHL Scholarships

Several Kelowna Rockets alumni have taken advantage of the Western Hockey League scholarship program and are securing a post secondary education thanks to their time spent playing in the WHL.
Each year the WHL awards scholarships, covering the cost of post secondary education for its graduating players.
The WHL has awarded 317 scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year and 14 former Kelowna Rockets have been beneficiaries.
Below is a list of those ex-Rockets and the post-secondary institutions they are currently attending;
Mitchell Chapman - University of British Columbia
Spencer Main - University of British Columia
Jesse Paradis - University of Manitoba
Dylen McKinlay - University of Regina
Cody Fowlie - University of Regina
Max Adolph - University of Saskatchewan
Jordan Cooke - University of Saskatchewan
Tanner Moar - University of Saskatchewan
Zachary Franko - Acadia University - Wolfville, NS
Shane McColgan - St. Thomas University - Fredericton, NB
Kevin Smith - Corpus Christi Colleague
"¨Austin Ferguson - Hilltop Academy - New Westminster, BC
Cody Chikie - NAIT
Kyle St. Denis - Selkirk College - Castlegar & Nelson, BC
The Western Hockey League also announced its 42 Canadian Inter-university Sport Academic All-Canadians for the 2013-14 season."¨"¨
This distinction is given to all CIS student-athletes who achieve an academic average of 80 per cent or higher while representing their institution on a varsity team.
Three former Rockets were given the honour including;
Joe Colin - University of Alberta
Jesse Paradis - University of Manitoba
Craig Cuthbert - University of Regina
Administered by the WHL office, the WHL Scholarship is solely funded by the member Clubs of the WHL. This season WHL Clubs will contribute $2.0 million to graduates utilizing the WHL Scholarship.

"The WHL ownership takes tremendous pride in continuing to provide our graduate players with the most comprehensive scholarship program available in North America today."
