Vancouver Giants News Release

Mere hours after Troy Ward was relieved of his coaching duties, the Vancouver Giants lost 4-0 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the ENMAX Centre on Wednesday night. Hurricanes goalie Stuart Skinner stopped all 37 shots he faced for his first WHL shutout.

The "˜Canes opened the scoring just one minute into the game when Jamal Watson knocked a rebound past Giants goalie Cody Porter off the rush after a strong net drive by Riley Sheen. Vancouver generated a couple of chances of their own, the best of which came when Tyler Benson hit a goal post on a backhand shot from the slot, but couldn't beat Skinner, and Andrew Nielsen made it 2-0 for Lethbridge in the final minute of the second period, scoring on a four-on-three power play.

Watson added his second of the night in the third period, and Jaeger White rippled the mesh with his first WHL goal as well.

The Giants will continue their road trip on Friday night in Edmonton against the Oil Kings. Face-off is set for 6:00pm.

Vancouver's next home game is on December 5th when the Portland Winterhawks visit the Pacific Coliseum. For tickets, call 604-4-GIANTS (604-444-2687) or visit VancouverGiants.com.
