Havoc Pick Up Point In Pensacola

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc picked up one point on a two-game road trip to Pensacola falling 4-0 on Friday night before dropping a 6-5 decision in overtime on Saturday night.

PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers used a sparkling performance by Max Strang to take down the Huntsville Havoc, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Pensacola's 4-0 shutout victory.

The Ice Flyers got the win behind a great game by Corey Banfield, who had one goal and two assists. Banfield scored 3:56 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Jason Fabian picked up the assist.

By firing 34 shots on goal, Pensacola exceeded the 27.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Pensacola also had goals scored by Phil Tesoriero, Brett Beebe, and Adam Pawlick, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Cody Ferriero, who had two.

Huntsville was held below its usual level of production. The Havoc average 3.0 goals per game. Huntsville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jacob Johnstone, Colin Hekle and Nick Lazorko took 15 of the team's 29 shots.

Strang rejected 29 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Jesse Kallechy recorded 30 saves for the Havoc. Huntsville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.

Saturday, November 22 - Huntsville 5, Pensacola 6 - OT

PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Flyers' Cody Ferriero scored 2:04 into overtime to beat the Huntsville Havoc, 6-5 (OT).

Pensacola almost relinquished a two-score lead. The Ice Flyers made the score 4-2 on a goal by Drew Akins at 3:17 in the third period. Huntsville pulled to within 4-3 on a goal by Jarred Mohr at 3:45 in the third period.

Pensacola's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Ice Flyers are averaging 2.0 goals against for the season. Pensacola's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 22 shots on net during the game. The Ice Flyers' offense was clicking better than usual and put 46 shots on goal during the game, better than the 29.2 shots per game they average.

Pensacola also got points from Akins, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brett Lutes, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Pensacola also had goals scored by Jason Fabian, Mitchell Good, and Adam Pawlick, who each put in one. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Brett Beebe, who had three and Jarrett Rush, Michael Budd, Steve Bergin, and Corey Banfield, who each chipped in one.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. By firing 43 shots on goal, the Havoc exceeded the 32.4 shots they average per game this year.

Huntsville was led by Nick Lazorko, who had one goal and two assists. Lazorko scored 13:36 into the third period to make the score 5-5. Justin Cseter assisted on the tally. Huntsville additionally got points from Mohr, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Huntsville included Curtis Megginson, Ray Ortiz, and Corey Bellamy, who scored one goal each. More assists for Huntsville came via Nicholas Kuqali, Matt Robertson, Colin Hekle, and Jordan Foreman, who contributed one each.

Max Strang recorded 38 saves for Pensacola. The Ice Flyers totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Havoc's Kevin Genoe stopped 40 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Huntsville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
