.BINGHAMTON, NY -- The Albany Devils were handed their second loss of the weekend, falling to the Binghamton Senators, 7-0, Saturday at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. Netminder Andrew Hammond and center Derek Grant led the Senators (7-8-2-0): Hammond turned aside 31 stops and Grant picked up a pair of goals.
The Devils (7-6-1-3) played shorthanded for the majority of the game. Dan Kelly left midway through the first period with an injury, leaving Albany with just five defensemen.
Between the pipes, Scott Wedgewood allowed five goals on 19 shots in 40:00 and Keith Kinkaid surrendered two on 10 in 19:36.
Along with Grant, Garrett Thompson, Patrick Mullen, Chris Wideman, Carter Camper and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Senators. Aaron Johnson, Buddy Robinson, Shane Prince and Matt Puempel each registered a pair of helpers.
Binghamton's first two goals came 56 seconds apart in the first period. Puempel set up Grant in front at 12:04 and Thompson redirected Johnson's shot at 13:00.
Mullen added to their lead on the power-play at 4:40 of the second period. Wideman's point shot redirected off the end boards and rebounded in front for a power-play goal.
Wideman then netted his 10th goal of the season with a blast off Wedgewood's shoulder at 11:10 and Camper followed with his tally at 17:20.
In the third, Grant scored off his own rebound to beat Kinkaid at 2:54. Pageau capped the scoring with a shorthanded goal at 19:03.
