SAINT JOHN - Samuel Dove-McFalls scored two power play goals, including the game-winner, as the Saint John Sea Dogs earned a 4-2 victory over the Shawinigan Cataractes in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Friday at Harbour Station.

Justice Dundas and Matthew Highmore also found the net for Saint John (15-5-0-3), while Jakub Zboril and Thomas Chabot had two assists each.

Giovanni Fiore and Alexis D'Aoust responded for Shawinigan (12-11-1-1), which lost its second straight game.

The win is the first for the Sea Dogs against the Cataractes since a 4-1 triumph in the round robin of the 2012 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

A complete game summary is available HERE.

Shawinigan struck first halfway through the opening period when Fiore took a pass in the slot and fired a quick wrist shot past the glove of Saint John goalie Sebastien Auger.

Dundas tied the game four minutes later.

Mitchell Dempsey took a slap shot from the left wing that Cataractes' netminder Marvin Cupper kicked in front of his net. Dundas had the rebound deflect into the goal off his skate. The referee immediately signaled for a good goal, and the instant replay official backed up that decision after a video review.

The game stayed tied until the final minute of the second period, when Saint John took its first lead.

While on the power play, Thomas Chabot hammered a one-timer from the point that hit the crossbar. It bounced down to the right wing side of the crease where Dove-McFalls slid the puck into an open net.

The third period opened with Cataractes' defenceman Sebastien Gauthier obtaining a major penalty and game misconduct for a slew-foot on Dempsey.

Still in the opening minute of the final frame, Dove-McFalls buried his second power play marker of the night, jamming a rebound underneath Cupper from the left wing side of the crease.

Just 52 seconds later, with the teams skating 4-on-4, Highmore tipped in a shot from the right point by Zboril to make it a 4-1 game.

D'Aoust got the Cataractes back within two just past the nine-minute mark with a wrister from the left circle that got by Auger's blocking arm.

Shawinigan were forced to kill a penalty in the final two minutes that lasted into the final seconds of regulation time.

They pulled Cupper with about a minute left, but could not close the gap on scoreboard.

Auger made 32 saves in picking up the win. Cupper took the loss with 31 stops.

Dove-McFalls was named first star with two goals on seven shots while Zboril's two helpers made him second star. Shawinigan rookie defenceman Samuel Girard impress with four shots on goal to earn third star in front of 3,132 fans in attendance.
