IceDogs Lose Tough One to Spirit

November 21, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

Two goals in the third period from the Saginaw Spirit gave them a 2-1 win over the Niagara IceDogs Friday night in Saginaw.

The goaltenders were the story of the first two periods. Brandon Hope and Jake Paterson each made some spectacular saves at both ends of the ice.

It wasn't until 15:05 of the second period when someone finally found the back of the net. Aaron Haydon's point shot got through a screen and beat Paterson on the blocker side to give the IceDogs a 1-0 lead heading into the third.

Dylan Sadowy tied the game at 5:28, after he converted a pass from Artem Artemov at the side of the net. Nick Moutrey gave the Spirit the lead with less than two minutes to go, and despite a few late chances, the IceDogs couldn't beat Paterson a second time and fell 2-1.

Brandon Hope was spectacular, making 37 saves in the loss.

The IceDogs are back it tomorrow night in Plymouth when they take on the Whalers.
