RedHawks to Host "Dodger Day" on December 3

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City RedHawks will celebrate their new ownership and affiliation with the Los Angeles Dodgers during a "Dodger Day" event on Wednesday, December 3 on the Mickey Mantle Plaza at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

"With the team store being ready to re-open and with all the holiday excitement around Bricktown, we felt this was a great time to celebrate our new partnership with the Dodgers along with our great fans," said RedHawks President/General Manager Michael Byrnes.

The event will feature appearances by new Dodgers Director of Player Development Gabe Kapler and top Dodgers prospect Scott Schebler.

Beginning at noon, the RedHawks team store will re-open and will be filled with new merchandise in time for the holiday season. Both Kapler and Schebler will be available to meet fans and sign autographs.

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett will also be on hand to partake in the festivities.

Food trucks from Pops and Smokin' Okies will be set up on the Mickey Mantle Plaza and will be ready to serve starting at 11 a.m.

Free parking will be available for all fans in the Joe Carter Lot, located behind Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark at the northeast corner of Reno and Joe Carter Avenues.

Season ticket packages, including the Seven-Game Holiday Pack, are now available for the 2015 season. Reservations are also being accepted for group outings, including the brand new Left Field Deck. For more information, call (405) 218-1000 or visit okcredhawks.com.

About the attendees:

Gabe Kapler was named Dodgers Director of Player Development on November 7. Kapler spent a total of 12 seasons in the Major Leagues, suiting up for Tigers, Rangers, Rockies, Red Sox, Brewers, and Rays throughout his career. He was a member of the 2004 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox and still owns the Texas Rangers' club record for longest hitting streak (28). Kapler spent the past two years working in television, becoming a popular analyst for Fox Sports.

Scott Schebler is a versatile outfielder and is considered to be among the top 10 prospects in the Dodgers minor league system. While playing for Double-A Chattanooga this past season, Schebler led the Southern League with 28 home runs, 14 triples, 65 extra-base hits, and a .556 slugging percentage. In 2013 he won the organization's Branch Rickey Minor League Player of the Year Award. The 24-year-old was drafted by the Dodgers in 2010 from Des Moines Area Community College in Iowa.
