Impact Signs Goalkeeper Evan Bush to New Contract

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that the club has come to terms with goalkeeper Evan Bush on a new contract. As per MLS policy, details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Bush, 28, reached career highs in 2014, starting 13 games, including three shutouts in his third season in MLS, his fourth career with the Impact.

He was a key component for the Impact's two consecutive Amway Canadian Championships in 2013 and 2014, helping the team reach Champions League quarter-finals, set for February/March 2015. He was unbeaten in four starts (3-0-1) with two shutouts.

"I am very happy to be back with the Impact, the club that gave me my first chance in MLS," said Bush. "While I had the chance to play more, 2014 was dotted with highs and lows for the team, but we must look ahead. I already look forward to training camp and the new season to begin."

"We're very happy that we could reach an agreement with Evan," said Impact head coach and Director of player personnel Frank Klopas. "He's become an important part of this club over the last four years and we're glad that he's staying with our organisation."

In his first season with the Impact in 2011, Bush was named defensive player of the year and recipient of the Golden Glove Award in the North American Soccer League (NASL) as top goalkeeper. The Concord Township, Ohio native played his University soccer with the Akron Zips from 2005 to 2008.

The American keeper joins five other players who are still under contract for next season: defenders Eric Miller, Adrian Lopez and Krzysztof KrÃ"l, as well as midfielders Ignacio Piatti and Jérémy Gagnon-Laparé.
