Blue Rocks Release 2015 Game Times

November 19, 2014 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release

Wilmington, DE- The Wilmington Blue Rocks have announced their start times for games during the 2015 season and it features one significant change from the past. In the franchise's never-ending attempt to be as family-friendly as possible, the Blue Rocks have moved first pitch of their Monday-through-Thursday games up one-half hour. All Monday-through-Thursday games (excluding holidays, School Kid Specials and Summer Camp Days) will start at 6:35 p.m. in 2015.

Other news of note includes a trio of special holiday start times. The Blue Rocks will play their Memorial Day Eve game on Sunday, May 24 at 6:05 p.m., with fireworks to follow the contest. Wilmington will then begin its Memorial Day affair the next day at 12:05 p.m. The Blue Crew will close their regular season on Labor Day with a special 1:05 p.m. first pitch.

There will also be three midday, midweek matinees in 2015. The Rocks will play a pair of School Kid Specials, with first pitch times for the games on April 22 and May 20 bumped up to 10:35 a.m. They will also hold a special Summer Camp Day game on July 16, with first pitch slated for 11:05 a.m.

All Friday and Saturday games in 2015 will begin at 7:05 p.m. Sunday games are scheduled to start at 1:35 p.m. from April-through-June 7 and on September 6. All July and August Sunday first pitches will be pushed back to 5:05 p.m.

The full schedule was announced in September. Wilmington's campaign will begin on the road at Myrtle Beach on Thursday, April 9. After a seven-game road trip concludes, the Rocks will return to the First State for their Home Opener against the Frederick Keys on Thursday, April 16. It will be the first of 70 games at Frawley Stadium in 2015.

As always the Rocks will play 140 total games, but one striking difference in 2015 is the unbalanced nature of the schedule. In years past Wilmington played 20 games against each of their other seven Carolina League foes, with 10 coming at home and 10 on the road. This season the Blue Rocks will play 37 contests at Frawley Stadium against their three fellow Northern Division foes, while they will welcome the four teams from the Southern Division to the First State for a total of 33 games.

The Blue Rocks play 26 total games against their closest geographic rival, the Keys. Fifteen of those contests will be at Frawley Stadium, making Frederick the team Wilmington will play the most games against overall and at home. The Blue Crew will face the Potomac Nationals 24 times, the Carolina Mudcats in 23 games, the Lynchburg Hillcats on 20 occasions, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 18 times, the Winston-Salem Dash in 17 contests and the Salem Red Sox just 12 times in 2015.

Wilmington will play 18 games at home in May, more than any other month in 2015. The Rocks' nine home games in June are the fewest during any full month of the campaign. The team will also play all seven of its September contests at Frawley Stadium, closing out the season with its annual home game on Labor Day.

The Blue Rocks, who drew 284,701 fans to Frawley Stadium in 2014 and averaged more than 4,400 patrons per game, have season seats and group packages for the 2015 season on sale now. Fans should call 302-888-BLUE or visit BlueRocks.com for more information.
