Rockets' Streak Snapped in OT
November 19, 2014 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night, snapping the Rockets seven game winning streak in the first of two straight games between the BC Division rivals in Victoria.
The Royals tied the game at 3-3 with just 1:57 remaining, when a puck off the stick of Brandon Magee deflected off of a Kelowna defenceman and into the Rockets goal.
Victoria won the game in overtime, as Victoria's Axel Blomqvist scored on a similar play.
It was the Rockets third loss of the season and second in overtime.
Despite his team's defeat, it was another strong night for Tyson Baillie, who picked up two goals and an assist. Baillie has now scored eight points in his last three games. Meanwhile, the loss also brought Rourke Chartier's 10 game goal streak to an end, as he was held pointless on the night.
The Rockets (20-1-2-0) will have a chance to avenge the loss Wednesday night, when these two teams square off again in Victoria.
Kelowna then returns home to host Portland on back to back nights, Friday and Saturday.
