Morristown, N.J. (Tuesday, November 18, 2014) - Sky Blue FC was in attendance to show support of former goalkeeper Jill Loyden at her foundation's second annual "Break the Silence" Gala, which was hosted this past Saturday night in Philadelphia. In addition to creating awareness against domestic violence, the event was held to raise funds for various programs that have been developed by the JL Foundation.

"What an incredible night," Loyden said of the event. "Nearly 300 people came together to support an extremely important cause. Not only did we raise money to start our signature "˜Exchange Project,' but we feel that each individual left with a deeper knowledge about domestic violence, and a stronger passion to help us end it.

"We hope to continue to make our voices heard by empowering young girls all across the country to know how important and loved they each are, as well as the strength that they each embody."

Founded in 2012, the JL Foundation was established with a mission to create and support signature programs and activities that motivate young people by empowering them and help them find value in themselves. The foundation was initially created to honor Jill's late sister, Britton, who lost her life as a victim of domestic violence.

"It is an honor to have the opportunity to support Jill in what she does both on and off the field," Sky Blue FC General Manager Tony Novo stated. "The JL Foundation addresses a serious issue, and I cannot commend everyone associated with it enough for their admirable work. As an organization, we will continue to support Jill and the entire JL Foundation, and we will do everything we can to help "˜Break the Silence' on domestic violence."

Additional staff members joined Novo at the Gala, as well as Sky Blue FC captain Christie Rampone and midfielder Rachel Breton. With its tremendous cause at the forefront, the Gala was supported by great sources of entertainment that included live musical performances, silent auctions and casino gaming. The "Purple Carpet" event also featured a key note speech from Loyden herself, who recently retired from professional soccer in October.
