Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT - The Kamloops Blazers tied the game with one second left in regulation Saturday night at XFINITY Arena, but the Everett Silvertips came away with a 3-2 victory following an incredible 15-round shootout. Winning in a shootout for the second straight night on home ice, the 'Tips improved to 14-2-2-1 as they prepare to finish out the weekend Sunday afternoon in Portland.

Austin Lotz (10-2-1-1) made 30 saves in regulation and overtime before stopping 14 of 15 Kamloops shooters in the skills competition to lead Everett to victory. Kamloops natives Carter Cochrane and Kevin Davis scored shootout goals in the 13th and 15th rounds to lift the 'Tips to the win. Earlier in the contest, Carson Stadynk registered a goal and an assist and Nikita Scherbak drew two helpers with Ivan Nikolishin scoring the other Everett goal.

The Silvertips got a powerplay goal early in the first to open up the scoring as Carson Stadnyk tipped in a Ben Betker point shot from the blue line to give Everett a 1-0 lead. Later in the period Nikita Scherbak made a great pass from the corner in front to Ivan Nikolishin, who slid a backhander past goaltender Connor Ingram to extend Everett's lead to 2-0. Shots were 11-4 in favor of the 'Tips after 20 minutes of play

After a scoreless second period, the Silvertips' kept the shutout going until 8:06 remained in the game. Kamloops got on the board on a powerplay goal from Mike Winther, who picked up a rebound in front and tucked the puck past Lotz to make it a one-goal game. In a last-second effort to tie the game with an extra Kamloops attacker on, Deven Sideroff scored during a scramble in front of the Everett net with one second remaining.

After a scoreless five-minute overtime, the shootout began with 24 consecutive saves from the goaltenders as Lotz and Ingram each stopped every shooter over the first 12 rounds. Michael Fora finally scored in round 13 for the Blazers only to see Carter Cochrane answer with a goal of his own to keep the 'Tips alive. As Everett's 15th shooter, Davis then beat Ingram top-shelf on his forehand to give the Silvertips the victory.

Blazers' goalie Connor Ingram (2-5-0-1) made 21 saves in regulation and OT and then stopped 13 of 15 Silvertips during the shootout. Everett was 1 for 6 on the man-advantage, while Kamloops went 1 for 3 and finished with a 32-24 edge in shots.

Everett will be on the road for the next three games, starting Sunday afternoon when they cap off a 3-in-3 weekend in Portland against the Winterhawks. Opening puck drop is set for 5:00 pm with pregame coverage starting at 4:30 on Fox Sports 1380. The 'Tips will then play road games against Victoria and Seattle next weekend.
