Dayton Demonz News Release

(Dayton, Ohio) The Dayton Demonz hosted the Steel City Warriors on Friday night. The last meeting between these two teams was a hard fought game right down to the final minute with Dayton coming out on top. The Warriors lost all three games last weekend to Dayton and were looking for two things this evening; revenge and their first win of the season.

The combination of Dayton's offensive power and the goaltending of Curtis Martinu were too much for the Warriors of Steel City this night. The Warriors could not capitalize on their scoring chances tonight and lost to the Demonz with a score of 8-2. Steel City is still in search of their first win this season.

Dayton wasted no time in the first period, scoring a goal within the first two minutes of the game off the stick of Seth Ronsberg. The Warriors applied more pressure in the offensive zone in an attempt to answer Dayton, but another goal from Brandon Blair, put the Demonz up 2 goals to 0 early in the first. Steel City did not have an answer for Dayton as Jared Hicks would add to the lead with a hard wrist shot scoring from the slot ending the first period with a score of 3-0 in favor of the Demonz.

Dayton controlled the puck in the offensive zone at the start of the second period creating scoring chances that eventually led to another goal from Seth Ronsberg. Steel City struggled to get the puck out of their zone as the Demonz continued to cycle the puck. Dayton continued to push offensively which led to a hat-trick goal from Seth Ronsberg and another goal from the tape of Dustin Skinner, increasing the lead to 6-0 and forcing the Warriors to substitute goalies. The Warriors generated a couple of scoring opportunities and put some hard shots on net but the goaltending of Curtis Martinu got the better of them, stopping every shot thrown at him.

Steel City increased their opportunities to put the puck into the back of the net but the Demonz fought hard on defense to keep the shutout alive. Seth Ronsberg, with an already explosive hat trick, would score his fourth goal of the game stretching the lead to 7-0. MJ Graham would finally put the Warriors on the scoreboard with a shot that ended Dayton's chances at a shutout. TJ Constant would join the scoring parade with a goal of his own for Dayton only to be followed by a goal from Nicola Levesque for Steel City ending the third period with a final score of 8-2 in favor of the Demonz.
